During this online session, the Big Data and Open Platforms teams will introduce the attendees to BBVA's API dataset, on October 7, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. (CEST).

Innova Challenge Mexico is an Open Innovation competition that has been created within the framework of the BBVA Innovation Center as an initiative to promote the development of applications, websites or visualizations that in all cases make use of the API from BBVA Bancomer and combine them with external data to provide added value to the end result. The purpose of the competition is to discover new and innovative ways to harness the potential offered by processing bulk and open data.

The API in question will allow access to the Dataset, which consists in a set of aggregated transactional data, property of BBVA, where neither individuals nor companies can be differentiated and with the following characteristics:

-   Purchases carried out from November 2013 to April 2014.

-   Data generated in Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara.

-   Segmented by customer demographic source, age and gender.

-   The data will be displayed in aggregate form by week, month and semester.

-   Daily behavior patterns will be available per week and detailed by the hour.

-   Expense categories: Automotive, Bars and Restaurants, Beauty, Bookshops, Cash withdrawal, Construction material, Education, Fashion, Food, Health, Home, Shopping centers, Jewelry stores, Entertainment, Music, Office, Other, Pets, Services, Shoe stores, Sports, Electronics and Travel

-   Information about amounts or purchase intervals will not be provided.

Access to the API will be restricted to the participants and to the duration of the competition. On the other hand, the combination of data from the API with other information packages from external sources that provide an added value to the end result will be valued very positively.
