The eighth BBVA Open Talent competition is now open, searching for entrepreneurs and developers who are transforming financial services through digital innovation.

The entry period runs until 27 June. However, startups that also want to take part in the Wired Money Special Award to present their project at Wired Money 2016 need to be among the first to register, with the entry period closing on 2 May.

“BBVA Open Talent is BBVA’s contribution to fostering the fintech ecosystem, supporting businesses that are going to improve the financial lives of customers through technology,” says Shamir Karkal, BBVA’s head of Open APIs.

Over the last five years, more than 3,250 companies have taken part in this program, with the winners of past competitions having attracted more than 116 million euros of investment.

The competition is aimed at recently created startups from all over the world with annual turnover of up to 1.5 million euros, which have raised less than 2.5 million euros in finance. BBVA Open Talent is searching for the most disruptive ideas for financial services.

You can enter BBVA Open Talent 2016 at www.bbvaopentalent.com any time between now and 27 June. When choosing the finalists, the jury will consider the project’s capacity to transform the financial industry, scalability and business model, and the team behind it.

The finalists will take part in three regional finals, to be held in Mexico, New York and London. The six winners selected will receive 30,000 euros each and two non-consecutive weeks of immersion with BBVA in Madrid and Mexico. During these weeks, the entrepreneurs will interact with the Bank’s executives and financial experts, receiving advice and jointly exploring business opportunities.
